- Professional Career
Dr. Miyamoto Mamoru earned a master’s and doctoral degree in Hydrology from Chuo University in Tokyo and is currently a senior researcher at the International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM) under the auspices of UNESCO. He has been active worldwide, particularly in the area of flood management, taking advantage of his hydrological expertise backed by research achievements in elucidating flood runoff characteristics and improving flood forecasting technology. Besides, he has abundant experience at the forefront of water-related disaster risk reduction in leading international programs and capacity developments to meet national/local stakeholders’ needs through the framework of the International Flood Initiative (IFI), Typhoon Committee, WMO, and so on.
