Graduated School of Law, University of Tokyo(BA),Graduate School of Asian and African Studies, Kyoto University (Ph.D). He has been a Research Associate at the Institute of Development Economies-JETRO, Professor at the School of Social and Cultural Studies, Kyushu University. He also has been a Wilson Center Japan Scholar (Washington DC), a Visiting Scholar/Researcher at Thammasat University(Bangkok), Chulalongkorn University(Bangkok), Kyoto University(Kyoto), RIETI(Tokyo), Cornell University (Ithaca) and LIPI(Currently BRIN)(Jakarta).
