Study Visit for Ministry of Economy and Finance, Cambodia
National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) conducted a training program for 20 officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) of Cambodia from October 14 to 17, 2024, at the request of the MEF. This was the second time in seven years since the first program held in 2017.
Based on the theme (leadership development, problem-solving, decision-making, and technology integration in management) requested by the MEF, the training included lectures by GRIPS faculty and an external lecturer, as well as a visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The participants learned about knowledge creation theories, problem-solving methods, and policy-making techniques. During the visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, they attended presentations on overviews of Digital Transformation Initiatives and the Government Consultation Chatbot ^Govbot ̄, which deepened their understanding of public administration and knowledge management.
On the last day, as a practical exercise of knowledge creation, the participants were divided into groups of four and worked on a task to create a magazine article ten years from now (2034). They shared their future dreams with the group members, engaged in dialogue, and wrote down the future they wanted to realize together on a large piece of paper. Although the time was limited, they showed a sense of accomplishment and seemed inspired by each other when they made their presentation.
During the wrap-up session, the participants shared their reflections on the program, such as "The training was insightful," "I acquired both theory and practice," and "Lectures on knowledge creation were impressive." The program concluded with the program director, Professor Hirofumi Takada (Vice President and Director of the Executive Development Center for Global Leadership), awarding certificates to all participants.
