GRIPS and MUET co-hosted a webinar on science and technology on January 17, 2023 with the generous support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

GRIPS Prof. Koichi Sumikura gave a lecture entitled, "Human Resources in Science and Technology: Challenges and Opportunities for Japan", in which he discussed the current situation of science and technology research in Japan, support for young researchers and future tasks. Following Prof. Sumikura’s lecture, Ms. Saima Naurin of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and Mr. Farid Bakhtiar of Pakistan Council for Science and Technology gave a presentation on the human resource development and policy in the field of science and technology in Pakistan. The webinar, which attracted about 18 participants, was moderated by Dr. Wahid Bux Mangrio of MUET.

During the discussion session, participants raised questions such as technological development of local industries and industry-academia collaboration.
