The Institute for Southeast Asian Studies of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) and GRIPS co-hosted a webinar on Japanese foreign policy on September 16, 2022 with the generous support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The webinar, which attracted about 35 participants, was moderated by Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Director of Institute for Southeast Asian Studies.

GRIPS Prof. Kunihiko Shinoda gave a presentation entitled, “Towards the Stability of International Order and Promotion of International Cooperation in the Post-Pandemic Indo-Pacific” in which he discussed the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP), ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and Japan’s cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance synergies between FOIP and AOIP.

During the discussion session, participants raised questions about Japan’s cooperation with Mekong countries, and the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on the Indo-Pacific cooperation.
