Webinar cohosted by GRIPS and Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in Pakistan: “Star Scientists and Technology Transfer from University to Industry.”
GRIPS and MUET co-hosted a webinar on star scientists on January 12, 2022 with the generous support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

First, Dr. Aslam Uqaili, Vice Chancellor of MUET gave a presentation on star scientists at MUET. Then, Professor Koichi Sumikura of GRIPS gave a lecture entitled, “Star Scientists and Technology Transfer from University to Industry “, in which he discussed the activities and characteristics of the star scientists in San Diego, and comparison with Japanese scientists. Following Prof. Sumikura’s lecture, Professor Zeeshan Khatri of MUET, and Professor Najma Memon of the University of Sindh gave a presentation on their research and activities in industry. The webinar, which attracted about 35 participants, was moderated by Dr. Wahid Bux Mangrio, Assistant Professor of MUET.

During the discussion session, participants raised various questions about issues related to the training of young researchers, and government support for the formation of innovation ecosystem.
