We are pleased to announce that Sri Lanka’s new president, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, appointed GRIPS alumnus Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake as Secretary to the President on September 23, 2024.

Dr. Kumanayake graduated from GRIPS with a Master of Public Finance in 2008, and again with a Ph.D. in Development Economics from the Policy Analysis program in 2011. He studied with the support of a scholarship from the World Customs Organization (WCO).?

Dr. Kumanayake joined Sri Lanka Customs in 1997. He has also conducted research on customs corruption and integrity, publishing papers in various international journals.

Dr. Kumanayake is accredited by the WCO as a Customs Modernization Advisor (CMA); he has participated in several WCO international delegations to other countries to conduct customs systems integrity enhancement programs.
