At the 2024 Spring Conferment of Decorations, Japan conferred the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon upon GRIPS Prof. Emeritus Takatoshi Ito, for his work in clarifying Japan's financial and macroeconomic problems using internationally standard methods of economic analysis, and in disseminating an accurate understanding of the Japanese economy to the academic community both in Japan and abroad. This order is awarded to distinguished individuals for their long and/or meritorious service to the public good.?

Prof. Emeritus Takatoshi Ito’s specialties are international finance, open macroeconomics and the Japanese economy. After serving as a professor at Hitotsubashi University and the University of Tokyo, he joined GRIPS as a professor in 2014. He has been GRIPS professor emeritus since 2016.
