We are privileged to announce that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam has appointed GRIPS alumnus Mr. Le Minh Hung to the Politburo, and has appointed him chairman of the Party Central Office on May 16, 2024.

After graduating in 1997 from the IMF-sponsored Transition Economy Program at the Graduate School for Policy Science––GRIPS’ predecessor––Mr. Hung returned to the State Bank of Vietnam where he served as head of the Foreign Exchange Management Department, and as head of the International Cooperation Department and the Personnel Department. In 2016, he was appointed governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the youngest in history. He was subsequently involved in organizational decision-making at the World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as a member of Board of Governors.

Mr. Hung has been a member of the Central Organizing Committee of the Vietnam Communist Party since January 2016; he was elected to the National Assembly in July 2021, where he expanded his role in Vietnam national politics.
