On December 18, 2019 a delegation from the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) visited GRIPS. The CICIR was established in 1980 and is one of the largest private research institute in China that researches wide-range fields including diplomacy and economy.

Four CICIR researchers including Vice President Dr. Feng Zhongping visited GRIPS and met with President Akihiko Tanaka, Senior Advisor Nobuhito Hobo, Vice President Narushige Michishita and Professor Yoko Iwama.
