GRIPS Forum: “The Challenge to Conquer Blindness in the World Using Smart Phone Attachment Medical Devices!”

Abstract:
There are 44 million blind people in the world, 50% of whom suffer from preventable and treatable diseases. Many of them reside in underpopulated areas. OUI Inc. has developed the Smart Eye Camera, an attachment-type medical device that attaches to a smartphone, enabling ophthalmic diagnosis from any location. This has contributed to improving access to eye care in more than 60 countries around the world, with the goal of overcoming blindness.

Speakers’ Profile:
After graduating from Keio University School of Medicine in 2013, he founded OUI Inc. in 2016, where he developed an AI-based ophthalmic diagnostic system that won numerous global awards worldwide. Currently, he is working on the development of medical technology as the President of Keigankai Medical Corporation and a specially appointed lecturer at Keio University.
