abstract:
India and Japan have shared values of Buddhism, democracy and rule of law. Both are committed to an open and inclusive architecture to promote peace and development in the Indo-Pacific region. The Annual Summits between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Abe have completely transformed our ties, both economic and strategic. It is a partnership of great substance and purpose, and a cornerstone of India’ s Act East Policy. With India’ s rise as the world’ s fastest-growing large economy, opportunities abound for Japanese investments in India in infrastructure such as high-speed rail, manufacturing, services and logistics. Healthcare, disaster risk reduction, food processing and ICT are new areas of focus, backed by strong people-to-people ties.
