At the 153rd GRIPS Forum on 18 June, 2018, Dr. Masashi Sugiyama, Director, RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project / Professor, The University of Tokyo, gave a lecture titled “AI Research in Japan”.

In this talk, he will overview the global trend of AI research and the structure of AI research in Japan. Then he will introduce the activities of RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project and machine learning technology from limited information.

Speakers’ Profile:
Masashi Sugiyama received the PhD degree in Computer Science from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan in 2001. He has been Professor at the University of Tokyo since 2014 and he was concurrently appointed as Director of RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project in 2016.
He received the Japan Academy Medal in 2017.
