Abstract:

The world is currently witnessing a great amount of armed conflict and terror, and the number of victims, refugees and internally displaced persons is constantly increasing. This talk focuses on the causes of what is happening around the world, and using examples of the latest measures being taken on the ground considers the kind of measures that can be taken locally and by the international community to address the world’s problems.

Speakers’ Profile:

Ms. Seya is the President of Japan Center for Conflict Prevention (JCCP), an NGO specialized in peace building, capacity building and gender mainstreaming, currently operating in Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan and Turkey. She is also the Director of JCCP M Co.,Ltd., to which Ms. Seya provides technical assistance to Japanese companies expanding into Africa. In her previous carrier, she worked in post-conflict countries in Africa, Asia and Middle East including Sierra Leone and Cote d’Ivoire with United Nations Peacekeeping mission, Afghanistan as a diplomat, Rwanda and with an NGO to name a few. She is specialized in Security Sector Reform, Community Security, Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration of ex-combatants (DDR), Confidence Building, Capacity building.
