Abstract

Energy situations are in the midst of a grand transformation that we only see almost every half a century: drastic fall in oil prices; turmoil in the Middle East; turning inward-focus in the United States; fully fledged efforts against global warming; rising concerns to nuclear safety; and so forth. These are common issues the world is facing, whether it is a developed or developing nation, Asia or not, an energy producing or consuming country. Collaboration in many aspects, directions and countries are desired now. Grand Transformation Time, indeed, is the time for great collaboration.?

Speakers’ Profile:

Masakazu Toyoda is Chairman and CEO of The Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ) having held the position since July 2010. He began his career in 1973 in the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). He was appointed Director General of the Trade Policy Bureau in 2006 and was made Vice Minister for International Affairs in 2007. Mr. Toyoda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Tokyo University, and gained an M.A. in Public Affairs in 1979 from Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University.
