Abstract
Pakistan is making progress in many fields from its internationally recognized heritage of contribution to UN Peacekeeping activities across the globe since 1960 to immense strides in democracy and women empowerment. There is a positive story of challenges and achievements. The business-oriented Government of Honourable Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has undertaken major fiscal and economic reforms, the efforts of which are now bearing fruit.

Speakers’ Profile:?H.E. Mr.?Farukh Amil
The Ambassador joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1984.
He has graduated from the University of Manchester (BSc in Physical Geography); PCL/ University of Westminster (MSc in Transportation Planning and Management) and the Fletcher School (MALD in Law and Diplomacy) where he also completed the PhD Comprehensive Examinations. More recently the Ambassador also undertook the National Security War Course at the National Defence University, Islamabad.
He has held various assignments in Pakistan Missions abroad: Cairo, Ankara, Washington (Political Counsellor) and Pakistan Mission to the United Nations in New York (Ambassador/Deputy Permanent Representative, 2006-2009). At the Foreign Ministry he has served on various posts and as an Additional Secretary, Foreign Affairs at the Presidency.
