In the 21 century today, we are facing drastic changes globally. Accordingly, the challenge of

the firms and local governments is how to instill and sustain innovation. To be innovative, knowledge creation is important, and the leaders with practical wisdom are necessary. In this forum, Prof. Nonaka will present the conditions necessary for sustaining innovative organization and leadership.

At the 82nd GRIPS Forum on July 8, 2013, Dr. Ikujiro Nonaka, Professor Emeritus, Hitotsubashi University ICS gave a lecture titled “Distributing Phronesis for Sustainable Innovation.” In this Forum, he expressed his views on leadership theory. His speech was easy to understand and it was clear that he connected with the audience from beginning to the end of this Forum. In the Q&A session, there were so many questions from the audience that Dr. Nonaka was not able to answer all of them.
