The 72nd GRIPS Forum “South Korea’s Current Situation and Japan-South Korea Relations”
- Abstract
Ambassador Masatoshi Muto will deliver a lecture on South Korea’s current situation and the Japan-South Korea relations that he observed as a Japanese ambassador to South Korea. He will talk about the driving force that allowed South Korea to make such progress, the problems it faces now, and its economic relations and human and cultural exchange with Japan, which is increasing rapidly. He will also discuss the conflict over issues regarding history and the territorial dispute between Japan and South Korea that remains unsolved despite the close relations between the two countries. On the basis of the analysis of these issues, he will touch on how Japan-South Korea relations are expected to develop in the futur

At the 71st GRIPS Forum on November 26, 2012, Ambassador Masatoshi Muto, former Ambassador to the Embassy of Japan in Korea gave a lecture titled “South Korea’s Current Situation and Japan-South Korea Relations.” He explained Korea’s current status, Korea-Japan relations, and options for maintaining Japan-Korea relations. Many questions were raised at the Q&A session.
