At the 37th GRIPS Forum entitled “A new Age for the Diet and Government Policy” held on 25 October 2010, GRIPS invited two members of the House of Representatives, Mr. Toshimitsu Motegi (LDP) and Mr. Shinji Tarutoko (DPJ). Prof. Iio, the Vice President of GRIPS, served as the moderator. The speakers discussed policy disputes and made suggestions for future policies amidst the turbulence in this government.
At this forum, we had a large audience who was looking forward to seeing and hearing the two controversial representatives, and the forum provided a unique opportunity to enrich the audience’s understanding of Japan’s politics. At the Q&A session, GRIPS students asked the two representatives about their opinions, and the speakers answered the questions respectfully. The lecture was very fruitful.
