At the 32nd GRIPS Forum, GRIPS invited H.E. Mr. Jonathan T. Fried, Ambassador of Canada to Japan, to deliver a lecture entitled “Growth with Equity: Canada’s Structural Reform Experience.”
His Excellency spoke about Canada’s experience with economic and fiscal reform in the past 25 years. According to Ambassador Fried, Canada learned that it is possible to achieve rapid economic reform if it is implemented comprehensively. It should not remain the reservations and sanctuary, and pubic understanding is indispensible.
At the Q&A session, Ambassador Fried respectfully answered questions about the pension system under the reform, the effect of the aging of the population, and the method of feedback to people.
