The 17th GRIPS Forum“In Search of a Breakthrough for Japan’s Agricultural Reform”
At the 17th GRIPS Forum, GRIPS invited Mr. Kazushi Saito, President of Izumi Agriculture Ltd. and Shonai Kome Koubou Inc., Dr. Masayoshi Honma, Professor at University of Tokyo, and Dr. Kazuhito Yamashita, Senior Fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade & Industry, as panelists to debate on the topic of: "In Search of a Breakthrough for Japanandrsquo;s Agricultural Reform". GRIPS Vice President Professor Hiroko Ota served as the moderator, asking for the panelists’ opinions on various problems in Japanand’s Agricultural system, and what would be a breakthrough measure in order to achieve reform. With a direct voice from the agricultural community together with the academic experts, the discussion was lively and fruitful despite the limited time frame of 90 minutes. Many questions were raised from the students, especially foreign students, during the Q&A session indicating a high level of interest in agricultural issues.
