FPCI-GRIP Virtual Public Forum”Addressing Geopolitical Challenges in the Region and Beyond through ASEAN-Led Mechanisms”
Background:
ASEAN provides several ASEAN-led mechanisms such as the ASEAN Plus One, ASEAN Plus Three (APT), East Asia Summit (EAS), and ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) as frameworks for ASEAN member states to cooperate with its non-member partners. However, there are several criticisms of these mechanisms and how it is underutilized. At the latest ARF meeting, the 30th ASEAN Regional Forum in 2023, one of the topics of discussion was on the South China Sea, reaffirming the need to enhance mutual trust and confidence, and exercise self-restraint in any actions that could affect the dispute. Yet tensions continue to rise among the actors involved. These revelations beg the question, how can ASEAN more effectively use these mechanisms to resolve regional conflicts?
Against this backdrop, FPCI and GRIPS will convene the ?*FPCI-GRIP Virtual Public Forum* on _*”Addressing Geopolitical Challenges in the Region and Beyond through ASEAN-Led Mechanisms”*_
