At GRIPS Forum on June 26, 2024, Dr. Sachiko Kuno, Serial Entrepreneur and Scientist / Co-founder and Executive Director, Phoenixi Co., Ltd., gave a lecture titled “Think as you leap, prove as you crawl! - Ecosystems that create social impact”.

Abstract:

Drawing on 50 years of real-world experience, I will share my aspirations as a scientist and challenges as an entrepreneur and discuss the ecosystems that create social impacts. Why people take risks, how innovation happens by leaping over the valley in front of us, and how this impacts individuals, society, and the world will be discussed. And together, we will think about visionary leaders who take on the unpredictable future and the world that no one knows.

Speakers’ Profile:

Dr. Sachiko Kuno is the co-founder and Chair Emeritus of Halcyon, a nonprofit dedicated to the power of human creativity. Kuno also serves as CEO of S&R Evermay, a 501(c)(3) she co-founded in 2000 to support talented individuals with great potential and high aspirations in the arts, sciences, and social entrepreneurship as well as Executive Director of Phoenixi Co. Ltd, a Kyoto-based residential incubator for social intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs. Kuno was the founding CEO of Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. until she stepped down in 2012. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for numerous organizations including Johns Hopkins Medicine.
