4th GSPS-GRIPS Online Alumni Reunion(May 20,2023)

The GSPS/GRIPS Online Alumni Reunion was held in a hybrid format on the 20th May, 2023.

115 current students, alumni, faculty, and staff from 35 countries, including Japan, attended.

After the opening remarks by President Professor Ota, Vice President Professor Michishita shared the news at GRIPS.

Then the lecture "Green Revolution in sub-Saharan Africa: Opportunities, challenges, and the path ahead” was offered by Professor Kazushi Takahashi. (Program Director, GRIPS Global Governance Program; G-Cube)

In addition, two presentations were offered by alumni. At first, Mr. Tokai Sione Toutou from N.Y. (Tonga, MEP1, Class of 2019, Current Fellow for the Alliance for Small Island States (AOSIS) Fellowship Programme 2023), talked about “Tonga-A Small Island Developing State”.

Then Ms. Esther Nyabiage Nyaosi from Kenya(Kenya, PP, Class of 2005), Ag. Director of the State Department for Housing and Urban Development at the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development. Economic Planning, State Department for Housing and Urban Development, Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, talked about "Beads of Empowerment: Ushanga Kenya Initiative's Impact on Marginalized Women & Girls".

Afterwards, the "Video/Photo Contest" was then held, moderated by Ms. Asuncion Euvimil Nina Reyes. (the Philippines, PF, Class of 2022)

Five video clips submitted by current students and alumni vividly depicting their memories of GRIPS were screened, and the event ended on a high note with the winner, "GRIPSters, Dreamers, Believers" submitted by "ISC 2022-2023".
