Muhammad Arif Hidayat (YLP’05),Head of the Cooperation Bureau,Ministry of Manpower, Indonesia

After taking the Indonesian civil service exam, Muhammad Arif Hidayat started his career in the Ministry of Home Affairs in 1998. He held several positions in the Ministry, mostly in the area of national and international cooperation. After more than two decades in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Arif moved to the Ministry of Manpower where, in July 2021, he got promoted to his current position as Head of the Cooperation Bureau.Arif graduated from the National Institute of Technology (ITENAS Bandung) in 1993 and continued with his Master of Engineering in Urban Infrastructure Management at the International Institute for Infrastructural, Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering (IHE) Delft, The Netherlands in 2001. He graduated from the Young Leaders Program at GRIPS in 2005.

Mohammad Faiz Syed (DMP ’15), Superintending Engineer, Central Water Commission, Government of India

Er. Mohammad Faiz Syed, a Mechanical Engineering graduate, joined the Central Water Commission, an apex technical organisation of the Government of India, in 2007 after securing an all India 13th rank in the Indian Engineering Services (IES). He has a keen interest in the water sector and has been serving at various important positions in the river and flood management of the country. He earned his Master in Disaster Management from GRIPS in 2015 and was awarded the Best Researcher Award for the same. He currently holds the position of Superintending Engineer in the North East region of India and mainly looks after the works of survey and investigation, monitoring and appraisal of various irrigation projects. Being an important representative of the central government, he plays a key role in the development of the water sector in the region. Faiz was selected as the winner of the Third GRIPS SDGs Award for his contribution to the “3-Day Advisory Flood Forecast System of Central Water Commission (CWC), Govt. of India” in March 2022.
